MONTPELIER — The 73rd bienniel session of the Vermont Legislature is underway.
Both the House and Senate were gaveled to order shortly after 10 a.m. Wednesday and proceeded straight to electing officers. Democrat Shap Smith of Morristown was re-elected as Speaker of the House, while Democratic. Sen. John Campbell, D-Windsor, was re-elected as president pro tem of the Senate.
Members of both chambers were sworn in shortly thereafter.
