14 candidates qualify for presidential primary ballot

MONTPELIER — Secretary of State Jim Condos announced Tuesday that 14 presidential candidates have qualified to appear on the state’s March 1 primary ballot.

According to Condos, 10 Republicans and four Democrats will be listed on the Super Tuesday ballot when Vermonters will select their choice for either the Republican and Democratic nomination for president.

The Republicans qualifying for placement on the ballot are:

Jeb Bush
Ben Carson
Chris Christie
Ted Cruz
Carly Fiorina
John Kasich
Rand Paul
Marco Rubio
Rick Santorum
Donald J. Trump

Democrats who qualified for placement on the ballot are:

Hillary Clinton
Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente
Martin J. O’Malley
Bernie Sanders

Vermont law requires candidates wishing to appear on the primary ballot to file petitions signed by at least 1,000 registered Vermont voters along with a $2,000 filing fee. The deadline was Monday evening.
